Resin bound: the smooth, modern choice

Resin bound has become the most asked-for driveway finish for good reason: it's seamless, permeable, weed-resistant and almost maintenance-free. It works brilliantly as an overlay on a sound existing base — and when the base underneath isn't sound, we'll tell you straight and build a new one, because resin laid over a failing base fails with it.

  • Smooth, seamless finish with no loose stones
  • Permeable — rainwater drains through the surface rather than pooling
  • Wide choice of natural aggregate colours and blends
  • Weed-resistant when laid on a properly prepared base

Block paving: classic, durable, repairable

Block paving earns its reputation: huge design flexibility, proven durability and — its quiet superpower — genuine repairability. Individual blocks can be lifted and relaid almost invisibly, which no poured or trowelled surface can match. Laid herringbone on a properly compacted sub-base, it will outlast most of the cars parked on it.

  • Proven durability — a well-laid block drive lasts decades
  • Huge choice of colours, sizes and laying patterns
  • Individual blocks can be lifted and relaid — genuinely repairable
  • Adds kerb appeal and a sense of quality to any frontage

Driveway questions, answered straight

How do I get a quote?

Three easy ways: call 01823 729604, WhatsApp photos of the job to 07379 046388, or fill in the short quote form on this page. Photos and rough measurements are enough for a quick steer; for an exact written quote we'll arrange a free, no-obligation site visit.

Do you cover my area?

We work across Somerset, Bristol and Devon from our base near Bridgwater. If you're not sure, send your postcode on WhatsApp and we'll confirm coverage in minutes — there's no harm in asking.

Which is better — resin bound or block paving?

Both are excellent when installed properly; they suit different homes. Resin bound gives a smooth, seamless, very low-maintenance finish. Block paving gives classic pattern and character and is the easiest surface to repair. We install both, so you'll get an honest comparison, not a sales pitch.

Will my new driveway drain properly?

Yes — drainage is designed into every job before we start, whether that's a permeable resin build-up, falls to a lawn or soakaway, or ACO channels across a garage threshold. Water management is the difference between a drive that lasts and one that doesn't.

Do I need a full dig-out, or can you overlay my existing drive?

It depends entirely on the condition of what's there. A sound concrete or tarmac base can often be overlaid, which saves money. A cracked or sinking base needs a full dig-out — overlaying it just buries the problem. We'll assess yours honestly and explain the reasoning.

How long does a new driveway take?

A typical resin overlay takes a day or two; a full dig-out driveway in resin or block paving usually takes three to six days depending on size, access and drainage works. Your written quote includes a clear timescale.

Are you insured and guaranteed?

Yes. Quantock Paving Ltd is fully insured for residential and commercial projects, and all work is backed by a comprehensive workmanship guarantee — the specifics are confirmed in writing with your quote.

Do you handle manhole covers, edging and steps?

Yes — recessed manhole covers, edging restraints, ACO drainage, steps, paths and kerbs are all part of what we do. The finishing details are usually what separate a tidy professional job from a cheap one.
